Consultant Paediatrician & Medical Lead (Community Child Health and/or Paediatric Neurodisability) – 8 PA (0.8 whole time equivalent)

Overview
The post is suitable for either Community Paediatric or Neurodisability Paediatricians. The clinical role is largely focused on children with neurodisability and neurodevelopmental disorders. The role may increase to 10 PA (1.0 WTE) in the future.
Responsibilities
* Undertake assessment of children with concerns about neurodevelopment or neurodisability, including complex physical disability, social communication disorders, motor coordination difficulties, and syndromes associated with developmental delay.
* Provide a single point of access for all referrals to the child development service.
* Coordinate joint clinics with therapists and nurses when appropriate.
* Collaborate closely with specialist educational support services and the Disability Social Care team.
* Accept referrals from a range of health professionals and agencies, including hospital paediatricians, general practitioners, health visitors, school nurses, therapists, CAMHS, SENCos, and other education and social work professionals.
* Carry out diagnosis and investigation of children with complex developmental needs or significant neurodisability who require multidisciplinary management.
* Conduct most clinical work in the child development centre and hold some clinics in special schools.
