A little bit more about your role:
As a Principal Engineer, you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage assignments and lead the development of WSP's services in this area.
Your duties will include:
* Leading and delivering high-quality technical services for feasibility, development, owner's engineer, and technical due diligence assignments focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
* Providing technical input to BESS developments at each project stage, including their integration with other electrical or generating plants.
* Training, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring quality standards.
* Advising clients on project development and execution processes, including key stages, timelines, and risks.
* Leading and supporting interface management between engineering and environmental disciplines.
* Drafting and reviewing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, and supporting contractor negotiations.
* Engaging with clients through reviewing enquiries and preparing proposals for prospective projects.
YOUR TEAM
WSP has a long history in delivering high-quality technical advisory and management consultancy services in renewable energy, including offshore wind, onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS. We work on some of the world's largest renewable energy projects and maintain relationships with major developers, investors, and lenders globally.
Our core services include:
* Site layouts, concept design, and feasibility studies
* Technical due diligence
* Lender's Technical Advisor (LTA) scope
* Project development and Owner's Engineer scope, including tendering, construction monitoring, and technical advisory
* Hybrid Projects and BESS capacity and power optimizations
* Operation & Maintenance and Asset Management
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* A degree in a relevant engineering, technical, or scientific discipline, preferably with postgraduate specialization in renewable energy.
* Deep technical, commercial, and field knowledge of BESS technologies and deployment.
* Strong understanding of emerging BESS technologies and international markets.
* Experience in developing UK utility-scale sites at various stages.
* Ability to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
* Chartered Engineer status or progress towards it.
* Excellent client engagement skills and relationship-building ability.
* Attention to detail, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
