Description Job Description Are you looking for the opportunity to be at the heart of a fast-moving policy agenda making a real difference for families across Scotland? You will join the Tackling Child Poverty Governance Unit who advise Cabinet, the Executive Team, ,DG Communities and the Programme Board on how we are delivering ‘ Best Start, Bright Futures ’ (BSBF), our second Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan. The unit is structured in two teams – the Child Poverty Programme Management Office (PMO) and the Child Poverty Governance Team in which the role sits. The Child Poverty Governance Unit has a focus on overseeing the delivery of cross-government actions on tackling child poverty following the publication of BSBF which must ensure we meet our statutory targets on child poverty by 2030 and break the cycle of poverty for thousands of children and families across Scotland. You will join the BSBF Governance Team at an exciting time during the final year of BSBF and the establishment of a new Programme. You will play a critical role in supporting the Unit to provide strategic and practical secretariat support to the newly established Cabinet Sub-Committee on Child Poverty, a Programme Board of senior officials and external partners and our Deputy Director Group. Responsibilities Supporting the Head of Child Poverty secretariat to deliver meetings of key strategic groups including the quarterly Child Poverty Programme Board, bi-monthly Child Poverty Deputy Director Group and quarterly Cabinet Sub-Committee on Child Poverty. This will include: preparation of papers and associated briefing e.g. Chair briefs. supporting logistics planning. quality checking material. preparing concise, accurate minutes during meetings supporting colleagues to follow up on actions. Relationship management with external members of the Programme Board, ensuring they can fulfil their duties as members by supporting quarterly meetings between those members and the Programme Director, facilitating Board development and ensuring that external Board member priorities are well represented in communications with senior officials and Ministers. Drafting and coordinating communications for key governance groups based on proactive and reactive triggers of engagement to ensure the Child Poverty Programme Board, Child Poverty Deputy Director Group and other key strategic groups have access to feedback loops. Line management of a Business Support Officer, ensuring oversight of governance documentation to maintain quality standards and in line with record management guidance.
