Job Description
A private equity backed manufacturing business is looking for a financial accountant (hybrid) to bolster its finance team. This role will cover a variety of responsibilities beyond the everyday financial accounting aspect of the role.
The position will play a key role in strengthening the financial control environment across the UK entities and supporting accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting. Reporting into the UK Financial Controller and working closely with Group Finance.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly management accounts for UK entities in line with the Group reporting calendar
* Post journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll, stock movements and provisions. Perform detailed P&L and balance sheet analysis and provide clear variance commentary
* Ensure timely and accurate submission of reporting packs to Group Finance
* Own and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring they are complete, accurate and supported
* Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for fixed assets, leases, inventory, rebates and provisions
* Support the strengthening of the UK financial control environment and month-end discipline
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Group accounting policies and internal controls
* Support statutory accounts preparation, audits and tax processes (VAT, corporation tax)
* Manage intercompany postings, reconciliations and settlements
* Assist with cash forecasting inputs and variance analysis
* Drive working capital reporting and own invoice discounting processes, including reconciliations and customer allocations
Skills & Qualifications:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
* Solid experience in financial accounting and month-end close
* Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems
* Good working knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT
* Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently
