Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent
2. Professional registration with the GPhC
Desirable criteria
3. Accredited Checking Technician
4. Accredited Medicines Optimisation Technician
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Regular patient contact
6. Experience of working in a busy pharmacy department in primary or secondary care
Desirable criteria
7. Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department.
8. Experience of using Wellsky pharmacy computer system
9. Experience of ward based working
10. Experience of working in an Aseptic Unit
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
11. Demonstrated ability to work methodically and accurately
12. Able to analyse and interpret prescriptions, identify problems and decide upon an appropriate course of action
13. Basic computer literacy & keyboard skills
14. Neat, numerate
Knowledge
Essential criteria
15. Good basic understanding of pharmacy law and ethics, roles and responsibilities
16. Good understanding of delivering quality care and providing a safe and efficient service
Desirable criteria
17. Knowledge of aseptic working
18. Knowledge of medicines optimisation
19. Knowledge of the legal aspects of final accuracy checking and the law relating to prescriptions
