Join the Close Brothers Motor Finance (CBMF) team where you will assist our dealer partners and end customers by manually reviewing and processing motor finance proposals, whilst ensuring the business accepted by Close Brothers Motor Finance (CBMF) is within the business’ credit risk parameters. You will build and sustain great relationships through providing efficient service levels and value add initiatives.
The role of our Underwriter has a focus on making the right decisions to ensure great outcomes for our customers and dealer partners. You will be proactive and out-going, confident in dealing with our partners, retaining, and maximising business through the delivery of exceptional customer service.
To be successful, you must be a self-motivated person who has excellent planning and organisational skills with a good eye for detail. You need to be a good communicator with an excellent decision-making mindset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
New Business:
* Processing customer proposals and underwriting them in line with company policies and procedures.
* Liaising with motor dealer partners regarding the outcome / decisions of a proposal that has been underwritten.
* Negotiating with dealers, the figures and requirements to make the deal acceptable to CBMF and appropriate for the customer.
* Processing of customer documentation.
* Adhering to requirements of dealer procedures along with certain database checks for items that may occur when underwriting e.g. CIFAS (UK Fraud Prevention Service).
* Operation of our proposal system with clear notes and rational which adheres to company standard and audit process.
General:
* Completing customer security checks.
* Processing the payment of funds to our dealer partners.
* Completing general administration tasks related to new business activity.
* Maintaining a comprehension of the Motor market.
Risk & Compliance:
* Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.
* Proactively record any regulatory incidents (within the CBMF regulatory requirements).
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF HAVE:
* Excellent communication skills.
* Excellent IT Skills (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) with the ability to learn new systems.
* Ability to work well as part of a team collaboratively.
* Familiarity in applying decision-making skills.
* Ability to use and interpret information and data efficiently.
* A good attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
* Familiarity of using negotiation skills within an operations process.
IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:
* Knowledge of FCA regulations relating to Compliance, Data Protection, Anti Money Laundering, Consumer Credit Directive or Consumer Credit Act.
* Previous experience in an underwriting position and having held a mandate.
