Applications are invited for a 10PA substantive Consultant post as part of a newly expanded and reimagined infection service based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. The post is permanent.
Eligibility
We are seeking an individual with UK specialist registration in one of the following areas:
* Infectious Diseases with GIM
* Medical Microbiology
* Medical Microbiology with Infectious Diseases
* Other combinations also considered
Scope of Responsibilities
* Advice on investigation and management of infections
* Inpatient ID consults
* Bacteraemia and significant infection rounds
* Day‑to‑day support for all aspects of the diagnostic laboratory
* IPAC and AMS support
* Liaison with health protection teams
* Out of hours cover on a 1:4 rota
* Special interest work
* Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
* Contribution to the teaching commitment for the Peninsula Medical School
* Support specialist MDTs
Location & Employment
The posts are based in the clinical microbiology department on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site in Truro, Cornwall.
There are wide ranging opportunities to contribute to all aspects of our clinical infection service including developing special interests and research. Discussion of special interest, less than full time and hybrid working are welcomed. The post is designed to enable the Trust to develop and enhance the clinical liaison and infection service including an inpatient ID service and support clinical infection training at RCHT, and across the Devon and Cornwall Peninsula.
