Role Overview
The Country Manager will lead the Bangladesh Buying Office for a leading US apparel brand, overseeing end-to-end sourcing operations, vendor management, product execution, compliance, and team leadership. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, delivery performance, and strategic growth while ensuring brand standards across a large-scale supplier base.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Bangladesh buying office operations, ensuring efficient product development, costing, production, and shipment execution.
* Manage large vendor clusters and high-volume apparel manufacturing partners, ensuring quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.
* Develop sourcing strategies aligned with global business goals, leveraging Bangladesh as a competitive sourcing hub.
* Drive continuous improvement across quality, productivity, sustainability, and vendor capability building.
* Collaborate closely with HQ (US) teams on forecasting, capacity planning, KPIs, and risk mitigation.
* Lead, mentor, and manage a large, multi-disciplinary team across merchandising, quality, technical, and compliance.
* Ensure all factories meet ethical, social, and environmental compliance requirements.
* Build strategic relationships with industry stakeholders, government bodies, and associations.
PRE-REQUISITES:
* 10–15+ years in apparel sourcing/merchandising, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role at a large workforce buying office (US/European brand experience preferred).
* Strong experience working with large-scale woven/knit suppliers in Bangladesh.
* Proven track record in vendor management, cost negotiations, production execution, and quality/compliance oversight.
* Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage and motivate large teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with global counterparts.
