An established and well-regarded accountancy practice is seeking an Accounts Manager / Assistant Manager to join its Corporate Services team in Bury St Edmunds. This is a technically focused, non-audit role working with medium-sized and larger corporate clients, offering exposure to complex financial reporting, corporation tax, and advisory projects. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-driven work, problem-solving, and variety, within a collaborative and supportive team environment that values quality and professional development.
Role Responsibilities
* Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for medium-sized and larger entities, including group consolidations.
* Managing corporation tax and VAT compliance, liaising with internal specialists where required.
* Supporting and delivering on technical accounting matters and ad hoc advisory projects.
* Building strong client relationships and providing clear, practical financial insights.
* Reviewing work prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy and high standards.
* Mentoring and developing team members, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
* Managing client portfolios, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
* Liaising with Partners and internal teams to ensure efficient delivery of work.
* Identifying opportunities for additional services and supporting business development activity.
* Monitoring budgets, raising bills, and supporting debt recovery where required.
Personal Requirements
* ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with relevant post-qualified experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting and corporation tax.
* Experience working with medium-sized or larger corporate clients.
* Confident handling complex or non-routine accounting matters.
* Strong communication skills with both clients and internal stakeholders.
* Organised and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
* Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of work.
