Hays are recruiting a Mobile M&E Engineer on behalf of a leading facilities management and accommodation maintenance provider to the UK military and its partners. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in maintaining a critical defence estate while developing your career in a large, forward-thinking organisation.
The Role
As a Mobile M&E Engineer, you will be responsible for the effective, safe and timely delivery of mechanical and electrical services across multiple sites. You will ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (including JSP375), support project delivery and provide technical leadership to site teams and the wider supply chain.Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders, you will help to drive service improvements, reduce corrective actions and identify opportunities that support the Ministry of Defence's carbon reduction targets.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the effective and timely delivery of contractual M&E obligations across RAF Honington, RAF Marham and Wattisham Flying Station
Maintain full compliance with MOD Safe Systems of Work, including JSP375
Assess the competence of skilled personnel and support their ongoing development.
Produce high-quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for maintenance and project activities
Provide technical support and professional advice to site teams, supply chain partners and end users
Support project work, identifying and addressing any deficiencies that could impact estate safety, reliability or compliance
Contribute to the reduction of corrective actions and continuous improvement of maintenance and operational procedures
Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders to ensure seamless operational delivery
Provide supervision, assessment and coaching to skilled people, ensuring they work safely and within regulations.
Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota as required
Travel between sites as part of a mobile role (company car/car allowance provided)
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:
Fully qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer background
Strong practical experience with Safe Systems of Work, ideally including the management and operational delivery of JSP375
Ideally, Authorised Person (AP) tickets in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines
If you do not currently hold AP tickets, our client is prepared to put the successful candidate through all required AP training.
Proven experience supervising site operations and managing resources
Experience in staff leadership, mentoring and competency assessment
Confident decision-making and problem-solving skills, able to work independently across multiple sites
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel and participate in an on-call rota
