Job Title: Legal Council

We are partnered with a Research company who are seeking In-House Legal Counsel to join them for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a range of high-profile business areas, with a focus on procurement, technology, and intellectual property.
You will be:
* Partnering with the procurement team on a range of contracts, from IT and software to pre-press, warehousing, and transport, ensuring smooth negotiations and risk management.
* Taking the lead on technology-related agreements, including SaaS, cloud hosting, software licensing, and consultancy contracts.
* Collaborating with business units across multiple regions to provide tailored legal guidance.
* Supporting process improvements by streamlining legal reviews, standardising templates, and introducing efficiencies.
* Managing complex projects with autonomy and confidence, offering pragmatic solutions to commercial, consumer, and intellectual property challenges.
* Mentoring junior colleagues and actively contributing to a collaborative and supportive legal team environment.
You will need:
* A legal qualification (solicitor or barrister) with a minimum of 5 years PQE and a strong background in commercial contracts, especially within IT.
* Previous in-house experience, ideally including secondments, where you’ve successfully juggled competing priorities and delivered practical solutions.
* Knowledge of intellectual property and licensing, with an interest in working with a business that operates at the intersection of technology and publishing.
* Excellent communication skills – you’ll be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels and across functions.
* A commercial mindset and a commitment to finding solutions that work for the business.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a resilient approach to challenges.
* A positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to an inclusive and high-performing legal team.
