Asset Management Support Officer – Up to 12 Months FTC
Environment Agency is seeking an Asset Management Support Officer to help inspect, repair, maintain and manage flood risk assets and support river maintenance delivery across Hertfordshire and North London. The role supports asset data management to inform the future investment programme and evidence-based decisions across asset management activities. You will assist in projects delivering refurbishment, replacement or new flood risk management assets to provide long-term safe solutions and you will liaise with internal colleagues, external organisations and customers. Incident response is a central part of the role and you should be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support. An incident role may attract additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available.
Team and context Asset management covers the full lifecycle of assets, from planning to decommissioning, and includes responding to incidents and adapting to climate change. We work with a diverse range of assets and multi-skilled teams to reduce flood risk and protect communities.
Responsibilities
* Inspect, repair, maintain and manage flood risk assets (e.g., flood walls, embankments, flood storage areas).
* Manage asset data to ensure high quality data for investment planning and evidence-based decisions.
* Assist delivery projects for refurbishment, replacement, or creation of flood risk management assets with a view to long-term safety and maintainability.
* Support projects for new flood risk management assets and ensure safe, sustainable solutions.
* Communicate effectively with internal teams, external organisations and customers to provide information and support.
* Be available to respond to incidents and provide business continuity support when required (incorporating an incident role and potential additional pay).
Experience and qualifications
* Organised and good at prioritising tasks.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office; GIS experience is advantageous but not essential as training can be provided.
* Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
* Good problem solver with initiative; ability to make data- and evidence-based decisions.
* Good interpersonal skills to develop relationships with internal and external customers.
* Keen to learn and develop.
