Operations Director, The British Medical Group (BMG)
Location – Daresbury, WA7
Salary – Negotiable (£80,000 - £100,000)
BMG is a group of companies with interests across healthcare innovation, medical devices, and microbiology.
With headquarters in Cambridge, our technical functions are delivered from our newly refitted building in Daresbury, Cheshire.
As we possess a broad and exciting portfolio of opportunities across the group, we are now seeking a key appointment to drive delivery.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Operations Directorto lead our growing group of companies.
There is substantial scope for the right individual to contribute to our commercial growth, and play a pivotal role in realising some of the exciting opportunities already in our portfolio.

Duties of the Operations Director would include
* Lead operational execution across the BMG group, ensuring strategic alignment and delivery on objectives. Implement systems and processes to support scalable growth
* Manage a team of 14 staff, with 6 direct reports across functions such as technical, HR, finance, and operations
* Build and maintain a high-performance culture with clear goals, structured reviews, and effective team development
* Oversee HR and recruitment processes including onboarding, performance management, and resource planning
* Drive financial control in partnership with the Finance team, ensuring budgets, forecasts, and cost controls are robust and well-communicated
* Develop and embed project management processes and tools across departments to improve accountability and timely delivery
* Maintain up-to-date visibility of project status across the group and drive regular review sessions with the CEO to track progress, address risks, and align on priorities
* Act as the operational liaison between the CEO and the wider group, ensuring flow of information and follow-through on group priorities
* Oversight of contracts, compliance, risk, and business continuity. Consult legal experts as required to deliver distribution agreements, NDAs, Heads of Terms etc
* Work closely with design agencies to manage graphic design for companies and projects ensuring creative output aligns with brand identity and business needs
* Build and manage key external relationships with suppliers, contractors, partners, and stakeholders
* Support the commercial and technical teams in launching new products or ventures
* Lead quarterly operational reviews, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are monitored and reported on effectively
Previous experience of the role holder would include
* At least 5 years experience in a senior Operations role
* Proven line management experience
* Any project management experience is beneficial
* Any technical management experience in a relevant discipline is beneficial. For example medical devices, microbiology, biocides, synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry
* Any commercial experience is beneficial
* Ability to travel to Head Office (Cambridge) periodically to ensure co-ordination across the group. Suggest 1 – 2 days a month minimum
* Ability to attend the Daresbury office 4 – 5 days a week
* UK driving licence is beneficial
