We've been instructed on a role by a marine team that sits squarely at the heart of the market With specialist lawyers positioned across the world's key trading hubs, the practice advises insurers, charterers, commodity and energy traders, port authorities and other core players in the maritime industry. Its marine group has built a longstanding reputation for excellence in cargo claims of every size and complexity. The work is varied, genuinely international and commercially significant. You will see matters arising from damage or loss of cargo in transit - whether by sea, air, rail or road - alongside disputes involving logistics, warehousing, ports and terminals, commodity trading and charterparties. This role is aimed at a solicitor with 1-3 years' PQE who is keen to develop a specialist practice within marine and transport law. You will support partners and senior lawyers on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters, while also taking ownership of your own caseload of smaller, predominantly cargo-related claims. Early responsibility and meaningful client exposure are very much part of the offering. Day to day, you can expect to: Assist on complex, high-value marine and transport disputes, often with an international dimension; Manage your own supervised caseload of cargo claims from initial instruction through to resolution; Advise insurers, P&I clubs and other market participants on coverage and liability issues; Draft pleadings, correspondence and detailed legal research on points of marine and insurance law; Attend meetings, hearings and mediations as part of a close-knit and collaborative team; and Contribute to knowledge initiatives and broader business development efforts within the practice. You will be England & Wales qualified, with strong drafting skills, sound commercial awareness and a genuine interest in shipping or insurance work. Prior exposure to cargo or marine matters would be welcome, but a clear enthusiasm for the sector and a desire to build expertise in this space are just as important. The wider platform is substantial and internationally recognised, offering the support and credibility of a global firm combined with the feel of a well-established specialist team. For an ambitious junior lawyer looking to build a long-term career in marine law, this is a compelling opportunity.
