POST TITLE: Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer
LOCATION: Newbury, Berkshire
HOURS: 37 hours per week
CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent
SALARY: £33,656 - £39,034 per annum (plus potential £3,000 market premium)
JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high-quality teaching in Carpentry and Joinery, enabling learners to develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and safety standards required for employment within the construction industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver engaging teaching across Carpentry and Joinery programmes including full-time and apprenticeship learners
Plan and deliver practical and theory sessions covering:
First and second fix carpentry
Structural carcassing (roofing and flooring)
Architectural joinery and workshop production
Power tool safety and maintenance
Blueprint reading and CAD interpretation
Manage a safe and productive workshop environment
Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
Support learners in developing industry-standard skills and behaviours
Contribute to curriculum development to ensure content remains up to date
Participate in team meetings, CPD and college activitiesPERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
Level 3 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery
Extensive site-based or workshop experience
Experience of apprenticeship delivery and workplace assessment
Strong communication and organisational skills
Willingness to work towards a teaching qualificationDesirable:
Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent)
Assessor and Internal Verifier qualificationsBENEFITS:
