About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Supervisor to join an Estates & Facilities team. Reporting to the Mechanical Manager, you will supervise the delivery of mechanical maintenance and installation works across a diverse university estate, ensuringpliance, safety, and high service standards in support of teaching, research, and student life.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise day-to-day mechanical maintenance, reactive repairs, and planned works across academic, residential, andmercial buildings.
2. Lead and support a team of mechanical technicians and external contractors, ensuring work ispleted safely, efficiently, and to specification.
3. Overseepliance with statutory requirements, including pressure systems, water hygiene (L8), HVAC, and associated regulations.
4. Monitor work quality, allocate resources, prioritise workloads, and manage permits to work.
5. Support planned preventative maintenance programmes and contribute to continuous improvement.
6. Assist with mechanical projects, upgrades, and plant replacements, providing technical input where required.
7. Maintain accurate records using the CAFM system and produce reports as needed.
8. Ensure excellent customer service when liaising with academic and professional services staff.
About YouYou will be an experienced mechanical professional with strong supervisory skills and amitment to safety and service delivery.
9. Recognised mechanical qualification ( NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
10. Proven experience supervising mechanical maintenance teams within large orplex estates.
11. Strong working knowledge of HVAC, building services, and mechanical plant.
12. Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutorypliance.
13. Ability to plan, prioritise, andmunicate effectively.
