The Role
The Calibration Technician will support the Maintenance and Calibration Manager in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of site instrumentation, measurement, and testing equipment. The role involves creating and implementing calibration procedures, performing routine equipment calibration, coordinating schedules, and maintaining audit ready documentation in line with internal and external quality standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining precision across site operations, supporting production quality, and ensuring calibration assets and processes remain compliant with regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and maintaining calibration asset records using in house calibration software
Developing and maintaining calibration procedures for instrumentation and linear measurement equipment
Performing routine calibration and adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance
Coordinating monthly calibration schedules using internal CMMS systems
Producing calibration reports for onsite equipment and external customers
Maintaining calibration equipment and coordinating contractor servicing where required
Monitoring KPI data to assess equipment wear rates and advising on replacement requirements
Supporting internal and external calibration audits
Managing external calibration processes and reporting overdue assets
Providing technical advice on gauging and measurement solutions
Maintaining calibration laboratory standards (5S)
Supporting quality investigations relating to manufactured products
Ensuring full compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental requirements
Communicating effectively with stakeholders across the business
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
Recognised Electrical or Mechanical qualification (HNC, HND, BTEC Level 3 or above)
Time served apprenticeship or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Experience
Proven experience within a calibration or engineering role with strong mechanical and electrical understanding
Experience creating and implementing calibration procedures
Solid understanding of calibration principles, practices, and theories
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience using Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience within a manufacturing environment
Understanding of ISO9001 calibration requirements
