Lead unix engineer

1. Unix/Linux Administration:

* Maintain Unix/Linux servers, with a focus on SUSE, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
o Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades.
o Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
o Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions.
o Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.

2. Automation with Ansible:

* Develop Ansible playbooks for automating routine tasks and configurations.
o Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
o Provide guidance and training to team members on Ansible best practices.

3. Vulnerability and Patch Management:

* Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and implement remediation plans.
o Manage the patching process to ensure all systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches.
o Work closely with the security team to address any identified vulnerabilities promptly.
o Maintain documentation of vulnerability and patch management activities.

4. People Management:

* Lead a team of Unix engineers, providing support for their professional development.
o Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews with team members.
o Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

5. Project Management:

* Participate in infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
o Coordinate with other IT teams and partners to ensure successful project execution.
o Develop project documentation, including plans, schedules, and status reports.

6. Audits and Compliance:

* Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
o Prepare for and participate in external audits.
o Implement corrective actions based on audit findings to improve processes and security.

7. Continuous Improvement:

* Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to Unix/Linux administration and automation.
o Identify process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

Experience and Skills


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* 7 years of experience in Unix/Linux administration, with a focus on SUSE.
* Experience with automation tools, Ansible.
* Technical expertise in Unix/Linux administration, particularly RedHat & SUSE
* Experience in vulnerability and patch management.
* Experience in people management and team leadership.
