Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a health care support worker to join one of our district nursing teams in Teviot locality.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to members of the nursing team in delivering holistic person‑centred care to patients and their families/carers.
* Work unsupervised in the community setting to deliver competent nursing interventions within defined scope of practice and delegated case/load.
* Perform tasks including wound care, skin assessment, basic vital signs, venepuncture, catheter care and provision of equipment.
* Support patients in their own homes as part of a dynamic and motivated District Nursing Service.
Qualifications
* Team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience of working within the community is desirable but not essential.
* Full current driving licence and access to a car is essential.

The post is based within Newcastleton Health Centre.

Working Hours & Pay
As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, a corresponding increase in hourly rate will keep pay unchanged.
Legal and Compliance
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently required. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", the appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Confirmation of any change will be provided by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
