Description Salary range: £61,653 - £65,181 p.a. inc. A £5000 ‘golden hello’ for (SW Qualified) managers new to Brent, upon completion of their probationary period. An annual retention payment of £3000 for eligible frontline social workers/managers from Grade PO2 – PO7 Contract: Permanent Hours of work: 36 hours per week Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time ✨ Lead with purpose. We are seeking an experienced and resilient Emergency Duty Team (EDT) Manager to lead our Out of Hours Service, covering all care groups—Children and Young People, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Adult Social Care. ⚡ Step up when it matters most. Lead with confidence under pressure. You will hold full operational and leadership responsibility for the EDT, ensuring there is sufficient AMHP provision across all out-of-hours shifts and bank holidays. You will also take the lead on the recruitment, retention, training and re-warranting of Brent’s AMHP workforce, while championing best practice and professional development. Key responsibilities include: • Leading and supervising the Emergency Duty Team to deliver responsive, safe and effective services out of hours. • Providing first on-call response to EDT workers on a rota basis (weekday evenings and alternate weekends). • Ensuring statutory duties are delivered under the Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007). • Overseeing quality assurance, case recording, and decision-making processes to ensure safe and consistent practice. • Convening and chairing regular AMHP forums and ensuring all AMHPs receive mandatory training updates. • Leading AMHP warranting and re-warranting processes for Brent. • Managing budgets effectively and ensuring best use of resources. • Building strong partnerships with internal teams, NHS colleagues, voluntary organisations, the police, and courts. • Supporting service-wide policy development and implementation, ensuring continuous improvement across Adult Social Care. We are seeking a registered social worker with: • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status • Experience in out-of-hours practice. • Significant post-qualifying experience across adult or children’s services, with a track record of leading high-performing teams. • In-depth knowledge of social care law, statutory duties, and the Mental Health Act Code of Practice. • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to develop, motivate and retain staff. • Excellent partnership working skills, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, multi-agency environments. • The resilience and judgement to make effective decisions in urgent and complex situations.
