We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Group Managing Director to lead two well-established and growing businesses operating at the forefront of advanced construction and specialist manufacturing. Reporting directly to the Owner/CEO, this role offers a unique opportunity to deliver the strategy, drive growth, and embed innovation across a diverse group.
The Group comprises a specialist manufacturing business producing innovative systems for use in controlled environments, serving high-growth sectors such as data centres, energy, and pharmaceutical, amongst others. Alongside this, the construction division is a specialist installation and fit-out contractor, delivering complex projects across similar markets.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead strategy execution and hold divisional leadership accountable for performance.
* Drive operational efficiency, automation, and digitalisation across the group.
* Ensure strong financial performance with full P&L accountability.
* Develop high-performing teams and succession plans.
* Expand market presence in critical sectors in the UK and overseas
* Act as a visible ambassador with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
* Proven track record of growing businesses and delivering change as MD/Group MD
* Strong organisational, financial, and commercial acumen. Intellectual capacity to quickly learn what you need to
* Experience in manufacturing innovative products and/or specialist installation and sub-contracting would be particularly useful. But beyond that, we're open to those with experience in leadership roles in other B2B products and services
* Experience across a range of business sizes and ownership structures from SME to PE to large corporate, would be useful, bringing the best from all worlds
* Comfortable with accountability, direct communication, and evidence-based decision making.
* Forward-thinking, with enthusiasm for technology, digitalisation, automation, and innovation.
* Based within a reasonable commuting distance of South West England or open to relocation. Living in or near Cardiff, Bath, Gloucester, or Swindon would be ideal.
