We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team and support the delivery of vital highways and infrastructure projects across North Yorkshire.
This is a career graded role, designed to develop your skills, confidence and experience giving you a clear pathway to progress into a Quantity Surveyor role.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in supporting the commercial function, gaining hands‑on experience across a wide variety of projects. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the administration of contracts and subcontracts
* Monitoring costs, value and financial performance of projects
* Assisting with change management, compensation events and claims
* Preparing and reviewing interim and final accounts
* Tracking progress and maintaining accurate project records
* Supporting cost forecasting, reporting and risk management
* Building strong relationships with colleagues, clients and supply chain partners
What we’re looking for
We’re keen to hear from candidates who are eager to learn and develop in a commercial environment.
* Good standard of education
* Working towards (or willing to work towards) a HND or degree in Quantity Surveying
* Understanding of cost management, contracts and financial processes
* Strong IT, analytical and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
* Experience in highways, infrastructure or a similar commercial role
* Knowledge of NEC contracts or highway works
* Understanding of procurement and supply chain management
* Clear career progression with structured development
