Salary: £36,614 to £41,194 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week

Reference: REC2219 | Closing Date: Sunday, 10th August 2025

The Opportunity

Based in our state-of-the-art CUBE construction centre, you’ll help shape the future of the plumbing and heating industry by teaching the next generation of skilled professionals. You’ll deliver a mix of practical and theory-based lessons, covering everything from health and safety to hot and cold-water systems, central heating, and system design. Your teaching will reflect both traditional techniques and modern-day practices, using industry-standard tools and materials.

You’ll work as part of a supportive and experienced team, delivering lessons across Apprenticeship Standards, T Levels, and Technical Qualifications. Your input will help shape and improve the curriculum, and you’ll create clear and engaging lesson plans and resources that bring the subject to life for our learners.

You’ll assess our students’ work, give constructive feedback, and support learners to achieve their best by setting clear, achievable targets. You’ll also play a key part in student support—guiding, challenging, and motivating them throughout their journey. This includes carrying out reviews, contributing to pastoral support, and working closely with colleagues in English, Maths, and Tutorial Support to ensure students get a well-rounded experience.

You’ll help with interviews, assessments, and enrolment, ensuring each learner gets off to a strong start. You’ll also make sure all health and safety procedures are followed in the workshop, including PPE use. Your role will contribute directly to the success and growth of the Construction department—supporting strong student outcomes, progression, and retention.

This is a rewarding opportunity to use your industry knowledge to inspire our learners and make a real impact within a forward-thinking and growing department.

About You

You’ll bring solid experience in plumbing and heating, along with up-to-date knowledge of both traditional and modern techniques. You know your trade inside out and are ready to use that experience to support learners as they build their own skills and confidence.

You have a real passion for helping others succeed. Whether you’ve taught before or you’re moving into education from industry, you’re keen to pass on your knowledge in a clear and supportive way. If you don’t already have a teaching qualification, you’re open to working towards one.

You know how to adapt your teaching to suit different learners and can use a variety of methods to keep lessons engaging and effective. You’re also confident in developing strategies to improve attendance, retention, achievement, success rates and value added—always keeping learners motivated and on track.

You understand what your learners need, both academically and pastorally, and you’re approachable and supportive. Your feedback is clear and constructive, helping learners understand where they’re doing well and how they can improve. You communicate well—both verbally and in writing—and you’re highly organised when it comes to planning and assessment.

Health and safety in the workshop is second nature to you, and you’ll always make sure the correct procedures are followed. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across the college to give learners a well-rounded experience and the best chance of success.

Most importantly, you’re committed to helping learners build real skills, grow in confidence, and take their next step—whether that’s into work, further training, or a career in the industry.
