As a System Safety & RAM Consultant, you will support mission-critical projects by conducting safety and reliability analyses and safety risk assessments across various industries. Typical tasks include:
* Leading safety and/or reliability assurance activities on mission-critical projects
* Planning and facilitating Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) workshops
* Producing, reviewing, and ensuring quality of project documentation, reports, and specifications to meet client expectations and standards
* Conducting safety assurance activities in the Rail domain to demonstrate compliance with the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CSM-REA)
* Performing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
* Executing Fault Tree Analysis / Event Tree Analysis
* Developing safety arguments and justifications for design changes
* Undertaking Reliability Assessments using tools like Reliability Block Diagrams
* Preparing safety and reliability assurance documentation such as Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Hazard Reports, and System Definitions
* Performing Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), consequence analysis, and dispersion modelling
* Conducting DSEAR and Hazardous Area Classification studies
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience in System Safety and Reliability / Risk within mission-critical industries (rail experience preferred but not mandatory)
* Knowledge of Engineering Safety Management, CSM, ROGS, BS EN standards, and RAMS
* Ability to develop safety risk and reliability models using Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Trees, and Event Trees
* Experience with Quantitative Risk Analysis techniques
* Supporting HAZID/HAZOP workshops and contributing to Safety Cases
* Ability to work across time zones and in diverse international teams
* Desired: Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
* Desired: Proficiency with Isograph Reliability Workbench or similar software
* Desired: Experience in multiple mission-critical industries such as Rail, Energy, Oil & Gas, Aerospace & Defence
* Desired: Experience in consequence analysis and dispersion modelling
