At ALS in Knowsley, we’re looking for a Sample Receipt Supervisor to help keep our sample management process running smoothly. You’ll be at the heart of our operations — receiving, logging and coordinating sample dispatches accurately and efficiently. You’ll work closely with friendly colleagues across departments and have the chance to build on your skills in a supportive environment.

This role is ideal for someone with a couple of years’ experience in inventory or sample management, looking for a new challenge and a chance to grow with a company that values teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

If you're detail-focused, proactive, and enjoy working in a well-structured environment, we’d love to hear from you!

About The Position

* Shift: Monday to Friday
* Contract: Full-time, permanent position
* Salary: Competitive, with opportunities for progression

The day to day

* Coordinate the receipt, logging, and safe storage of incoming samples, ensuring accuracy and traceability through ALS’ in-house systems.
* Liaise closely with Inspection and Assay teams, providing proactive support and clear communication to maintain efficient workflows.
* Oversee the timely dispatch of samples to both UK and international destinations using a range of courier platforms.
* Maintain meticulous records of all sample movements, storage, and processing, both electronically and on paper, in line with company procedures.
* Deliver excellent customer service, handling internal and external queries professionally and ensuring effective issue resolution, including Customs-related matters.
* Support inventory management by performing regular checks on sample storage and office supplies, contributing to operational efficiency.

The Essentials

* Minimum 2 years' experience in inventory and sample management, with a proven ability to operate efficiently in high-pressure environments.
* Proficient in Management Information Systems, with a strong focus on data accuracy, technology use, and process efficiency.
* Highly organised and able to multitask, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to assess risk and implement practical, impactful solutions.
* Committed to continuous improvement, with knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9000 standards, and their application in business.
* Team-oriented with leadership potential, including the ability to support, coach and develop junior colleagues while aligning with company goals.
