We are seeking to recruit a motivated, full-time Clinical Research associate to join the research group led by Menna Clatworthy in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof Menna Clatworthy and Rona Smith.
This one-year clinical research position is designed for a clinician with an established interest in nephrology. The fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to combine translational laboratory research with experience in the conduct of clinical trials in rare renal diseases.
The Fellowship Project Will Comprise Two Complementary Components
* Spatial transcriptomics in kidney disease: The post holder will contribute to the development of a disease kidney atlas through spatial transcriptomic analysis of existing kidney biopsy specimens across a range of renal conditions. The aim of this work is to identify shared disease pathways across conditions, refine therapeutic approaches, and identify potential druggable targets.
* Clinical trial design and conduct in rare renal disease: The successful candidate will develop an understanding of the challenges involved in designing and delivering clinical trials in rare renal diseases. There will be opportunities to act as a sub-investigator on interventional studies, gaining experience in trial processes, governance, and regulatory requirements.
The appointee will hold a medical degree and should have a demonstrated interest in nephrology and clinical research. Experience in translational research, molecular biology, bioinformatics, renal pathology, or clinical trial conduct would be advantageous, although training will be provided. The successful candidate should possess strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
Fixed-term: This post is available for one year in the first instance.
Informal enquiries are welcome and can be directed to Prof Menna Clatworthy (mrc38@cam.ac.uk) or Dr Rona Smith (rms50@cam.ac.uk).
This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
