A Senior Cloud Engineer is a leading technical contributor who can consistently take a loosely defined business or technical requirement, architect and build it to a well-defined specification, and execute on it at a high level. They have a strong focus on metrics, both for the impact of their work and for its inner workings / operations. A Senior Cloud Engineer should be deeply familiar with the tools of their specialization and of their customers, and engaged with the open source community surrounding them – potentially, even to the level of contributing pull requests.
Key responsibilities include:
4. Design and deploy scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
5. Configure and optimise network architecture, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, and load balancers, to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure designs.
7. Provides input into the roadmaps of teams representing upstream dependencies to help improve the overall program of work
8. Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
9. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in cloud infrastructure and contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud infrastructure architecture.
10. Optimise resource utilisation and cost management while maintaining compliance standards.
11. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture within the organisation.
12. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues and provide technical support to internal teams.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
13. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software engineering or related field
14. Demonstrated cloud experience (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS or Azure)
15. Proven, hands on experience working with CI tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Azure Pipelines)
16. Proficiency with Rust, Python, TypeScript or Go
17. Solid experience with Container Orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Open Shift, Docker)
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
18. Deep knowledge and use of at least one common programming language: e.g., Python, Scala, Java, including toolchains for documentation, testing, and operations / observability
19. Deep expertise in modern software development tools / ways of working (e.g. git/GitHub, DevOps tools, metrics / monitoring, …)
20. Demonstrated excellence with agile software development environments using tools like Jira and Confluence
21. Deep familiarity with the tools, techniques, etc relevant to their specialization area, including engagement with the open source community (and potentially making contributions to such tools)
22. Experience with cloud security platforms, identifying vulnerabilities and risks (i.e. Wiz, Trivy, Aqua, or Prisma Cloud)
23. Deep expertise of networking concepts, technologies, and designs used with large-scale deployments on Kubernetes.
