Mill Machinist – Isle of Wight
Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe and part of Stark UK, is looking for a Mill Machinist who is passionate about great service and based in the Isle of Wight. The role will operate at our Trafalgar Rd, IOW branch.
What You’ll Be Doing
Our Timber Mill Machinists are essential to the smooth running of the business, ensuring products are on time.
- Good grasp of Health & Safety requirements in an operational environment
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site
- Ability to carry out routine inspections
- Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role
- Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation
- Operating a variety of woodworking machinery such as band resaw, planer/thicknesser, five‑headed moulder, spindle moulder, profile grinder, cross‑cut
- Working across various tasks in the mill including quality control, stacking of machine timber and housekeeping
- Adherence to EHS standards by keeping the work area tidy, cleaning daily and rigorously maintaining machinery
Working Hours
Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
