Job overview
We are looking for a Part‑Time Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work within the Brent CAMHS Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT) at CNWL.
This opportunity is ideal for an energetic, innovative and dedicated child and adolescent psychiatrist with a special interest in complexity and trauma, who wishes to work with a supportive, dynamic and passionate consultant group and multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Opportunities for teaching and training are available, with strong links to Imperial College London to develop research interests.

Main duties of the job
* Work with other MDT colleagues to develop the Enhanced Treatment sub‑team.
* Provide a generic service for non‑urgent presentations of children and adolescents, including direct clinical involvement and supervision of cases held by fellow clinicians.
* Deliver a service to acutely mentally ill children and adolescents in crisis, providing comprehensive assessment and evidence‑based interventions across a range of theoretical models and treatments.
* Consult with other MDT members regarding urgent assessments and risk management.
* Assess about 15‑20 new assessments per year and provide 10‑12 face‑to‑face contacts per week.
* Manage a caseload of 30‑40 cases in the CAMHS Enhanced Treatment team, most of whom will be prescribed medication and present with high clinical complexity.
* Access Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and review the management and care of the young person during inpatient admission.
Clinical leadership and management duties
* Participate in the development of new service models to improve delivery and outcomes, taking into account commissioners’ views and evidence of best practice.
* Provide clinical leadership in the Brent Enhanced Treatment team.
* Participate in the development of clinical protocols as required.
* Contribute to the Brent CAMHS senior management group and the CAMHS‑ED service line leadership activities.
Teaching, training and supervision
* Participate in training and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other MDT members as required.
* Opportunity to participate in teaching and training activities with CT1‑3 (MRCPsych course), SpR doctors, local GP surgeons, social workers, health visitors and other community partners.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* Primary medical degree.
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice.
* Section 12 MHA approval.
* Additional postgraduate qualification relevant to working with children and adolescents.
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date.
* Approved Clinician status or to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Experience, Skills and Abilities
* Competence in psychopharmacology and non‑medication therapeutic approaches.
* Experience in assessment and management of children and young people with complex mental health needs and high risk.
* Knowledge of clinical governance and care quality.
* Able to participate in medical audit and quality assurance.
* Experience of teaching and supervision of junior staff and multidisciplinary disciplines.
* Management training.
* Experience of research.
* Experience in paediatrics.
* Experience and training in the assessment and management of neurodevelopmental disorders.
