Choose a career with us and make a difference.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Rehoming Coordinator to join the small but friendly team at Friern Barnet on a permanent basis!

Based in Pets at Home Friern Barnet, the Adoption Centre supports our frontline inspectorate by providing care, rehabilitation and rehoming to over a hundred cats per year. These cats come to the centre via our hospital and local animal centres. The adoption centre team manage and oversee an expanding fostering network for the cats in our care providing the very best welfare whilst those cats recover from cruelty and neglect.

* Working hours are 35 per week on a variable rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays
* Site based at Pets at Home Friern Barnet with some travel in one of our fleet vehicles. (Please note - As all our vehicles are manual, a full and valid UK manual driving licence with proven driving experience is a must-have for this role)

Here at RSPCA no two days are the same, as a Rehoming Coordinator we've added a short summary of what a typical day might look like, for a full insight please refer to the attached job description.

You'll be providing a safe space for cats in the centre, tending to all their needs, and working closely with both adopters and fosterers. This includes conducting checks and carefully selecting the most suitable home for each cat based on their individual needs. This role also includes a lot of lone working, which involves travel and visiting fosterers, hospitals, and other centres. Plus, you'll be handling essential administration to ensure everything runs smoothly

Other duties include:

* Providing care for the animals housed in the RSPCA rehoming unit;
* Engaging with the public by answering phone calls and in-person queries;
* Promote RSPCA animals available for adoption both in-store and on social media;
* Co-ordinate and manage fostering networks;
* Facilitating animal veterinary care, including transport to and from the veterinary hospital.
* A full and valid manual UK driving licence
* Willingness to travel and embrace a flexible work schedule.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to challenges.
* Previous experience with working with domestic animals whilst volunteering, studying or working;
* Compassion, with a positive can-do outlook with excellent communication skills;
* Ability to work independently, managing tasks within established guidelines.
* Confidence to conduct home visits and engage with the public in their own environment.
* Adept at handling sensitive and difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.
* Computer literacy and basic admin skill

Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK - We are unable to sponsor visas at RSPCA

Due to high interest in some of our roles, we review applications as they are received. This can occasionally result in positions closing earlier than advertised. Therefore, we strongly recommend submitting applications early. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications after the posted closing date.

We want to ensure we do all we can to give you a positive candidate experience through our recruitment. Whilst we do try to give feedback where we can, sometimes due to receiving high levels of applications, this may not always be possible

We are building the future of a diverse Society, and our priority is to support animal welfare by finding people from all backgrounds who are committed to our mission. For this reason we actively encourage a wide diversity of applications - in particular from members of minority ethnic groups, and people with disabilities - as these candidates are currently under-represented at the RSPCA. Your transferable skills & lived experiences could make you a valuable addition to our RSPCA Family!

Should you need any support with your application or interview process please contact resourcingteam@rspca.org.uk / 0300 123 0685.

Our mission is to ensure animals have a good life by rescuing and caring for those in need, by advocating on behalf of all animals and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect
