We are are looking for a compassionate and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join Ward 35, a busy and dynamic surgical ward caring for patients with a wide range of complex surgical conditions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work in a fast-paced environment while supporting patients through their surgical journey.
Ward 35 manages both elective and emergency surgical patients, requiring strong teamwork, excellent clinical support skills and the ability to remain calm and organised in a high-activity setting. As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
The Band 3 Healthcare Assistant will work under the supervision of registered nurses to support the delivery of care to patients with complex surgical needs. The role involves assisting with both personal care and delegated clinical tasks, ensuring patients are supported safely before and after surgical procedures.
The successful candidate will assist with routine patient care including personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition and comfort, while also supporting the nursing team with venepuncture and cannulation clinical observations, monitoring vital signs and accurately documenting patient information.
You will also support the team with patient admissions, transfers and discharges, prepare equipment for clinical procedures and ensure all documentation is completed accurately. The role requires close observation of patients, recognising and escalating any deterioration promptly. Maintaining infection prevention standards, supporting patient dignity and communicating effectively with patients, relatives and the wider multidisciplinary team are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
