Job Title: Intermediate/Senior Quantity Surveyor
It is essential that you have worked for a Construction Company in the past for 2 or more years.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a SME construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. You will help ensure that projects are completed within budget while meeting quality standards and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* To maintain up to date cost forecasts on all sites
* Detail any build cost variations on a weekly basis, both current and proposed, and assess the value correctly.
* Ensuring that variance to budgets and contacts let are identified and raised as soon as they occur.
* Negotiation of variations with sub-contractors.
* Ascertain accurately the value of variations, site instructions etc.
* Use value engineering exercises to advise if cost savings can be achieved.
* Check contracts and ensure agreement details are prepared accurately.
* Advise on possible savings that may be achieved at a design stage.
* Attend cost control meetings
* Prelims cost control with Building Manager
* Review all costs associated with the construction process. Provide alternative schemes based on timescales, ease of build and overall profitability of the project.
* Prepare detailed final accounts and agreements with subcontractors.
* Attend all project review meetings as they occur throughout the development process.
* Ensure sites and Managers/Agents are visited and consulted on a regular basis.
* Provide and obtain feedback on costs via other members of the department.
* Report on monthly costs variances on each site culminating in detailed quarterly accounts records.
* Audit trails to be provided throughout the development process to explain cost variances.
Desirable Skills:
* Familiarity with JCT Contracts
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
