Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a Localernment Authority who are looking for an experienced Revenue & Benefits Recovery Officer to join the team in an interim role in the collection of outstanding Council tax and business rates. This will be at least a 3-month interim role.
Your new role
In this temporary Revenues Recovery Officer / Credit Control role, you will be working in a team and take responsibility for investigating outstanding Council Tax arrears, which will involve checking that correct billings have been raised, reminders have been sent and that correct internal procedures have been followed to ensure payment is justified. You will follow up by collecting the outstanding debt and, if required, a liability order summons will be made to pursue the debt, which will involve attachment of earnings etc.
Ideally, you will have proven experience of revenue and benefits processing with a focus on collection of outstanding Council Tax along with working knowledge of Northgate.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be immediately available or available at short-notice and have experience of Localernment processes regarding the collection of Council Tax & Business rates.
