Job Type: Full Time, Temporary
Start Date: 09/03/2026
Salary: £95 - £100 per day

Teach Now is recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil in a welcoming primary school in Barnet.
You will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a boy with ADHD and a background of trauma. He is kind and capable of building positive relationships but can struggle with emotional regulation, particularly when frustrated or when he perceives situations as unfair. He requires a consistent, calm, and confident adult who can balance clear boundaries with empathy.
He is academically behind, which contributes to frustration, and can be a runner, so the successful candidate must be physically able and vigilant. The school has strong support systems in place, including a sensory and soft play room, and is seeking the right person to make a lasting impact.
The school is a nurturing community where every child is valued. Staff promote empathy, tolerance, and individuality, delivering a creative curriculum within a supportive and collaborative environment. It is genuinely a lovely place to work.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Implement de-escalation strategies and clear routines
• Assist with differentiated academic work to reduce learning gaps
• Support safe transitions and movement around the school
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Requirements
• Experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, ADHD, or trauma
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Calm, resilient, and nurturing approach
• Physically able to respond if the pupil leaves the classroom
• Minimum 6 months’ recent experience working with children
• Right to work in the UK
