JOB TITLE: Tenancy Management Housing Officer - Social HousingREF: Portsmouth 5272618-1Pay rate: £18.12 per hour PAYEWorking Arrangement: Based in various locations in Portsmouth, it is unlikely that home working will be possible as the team are looking for in person contact with customers.You may need to have the use of a car for the role, so it would be an advantage if you have a current driving licence and daily use of a vehicle.The areas for these roles cover and LandPort / Portsea Housing Office and Leigh Park Housing office in Havant, please provide your preferred area if you have one on your application.(FOR ROLES Portsmouth 5272621 AND 5272618 )The role:On behalf of a local council, we are seeking Housing Officers for various locations in Portsmouth, for approximately 5 to 6 months.This is a tenancy management role which involves having effective conversations with customers from a wide range of backgrounds.You will need to be open and approachable with good questioning techniques, whilst able to have direct conversations and at times challenge behaviours. If not from a Social Housing background Transferable skills may be able to be identified with former Police Officers, Social Workers, Estate Agents, Money / Debt advisers.The areas for these roles cover and Port / Portsea Housing Office, Leigh Park Housing office and Buckland Housing office, please provide your preferred area if you have one on your application.Key Responsibilities:
* Support tenants to meet their responsibilities in order that they can sustain their tenancies as outlined in their tenancy agreement whilst delivering excellent customer service.
* Support customers by providing budgeting advice, assistance with maximising income, tackling anti-social behaviour, working as part of the multi-agency team involved with a family and advising tenants on how to maintain their homes and keep their gardens in good repair.
* Provide appropriate tenancy enforcement action when proportionate and necessary to do so.
What the client is looking for:
* Previous experience of working with tenants in a challenging front-line service and be comfortable visiting customers in their home.
* Current driving licence and daily use of a vehicle for work purposes - desirable
* Ability to work quickly, accurately and consistently when under pressure
* Able to work independently in a focused, diligent and transparent manner.
* Able to manage conflicting priorities appropriately.
* Able to listen to the demands of the customer, prioritise and respond accordingly, whilst tailoring your approach to the needs of different individuals.
* Ability to converse at ease and build a positive rapport with customers, identifying any vulnerabilities they have and demonstrate how this has resulted in a positive impact and outcome in maintaining their tenancy
