The Marketing Planning team sits at the heart of marketing for Currys, leading and orchestrating marketing, strategy and comms to help Currys achieve its ambition to help everyone enjoy amazing technology.
The Senior Marketing Planning Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction of our marketing organisation. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end planning, coordination and delivery of world-class marketing campaigns (advertising, social, influencer, PR, Creative, Content & CRM) as part of broader customer-facing initiatives to enhance customer perceptions, grow CLV and deliver major commercial value (short & long-term).
Acting as a key connector between leadership and execution teams, the role oversees annual and quarterly planning, budget management and performance measurement to maximise ROI. You will also lead multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the process. The Senior Marketing Planning Manager ensures resources are invested effectively to deliver both immediate results and long-term brand value.
Key Responsibilities
* Orchestrate: Lead functional experts to drive collaboration and deliver world-class marketing plans across central squads; identify opportunities to improve, create and unite behind a campaign hook; spot risks to plan; guide, empower and course-correct.
* Own the briefs: Engage, energise and coach teams on creating inspiring, customer-centric and commercially effective briefs to functional specialists.
* Own the execution: Ensure plans are on brief and of high quality; champion Currys brand principles across all customer touchpoints.
* Own the budget: Navigate cross-channel budgets; negotiate budget discussions with senior stakeholders; use data and metrics to inform business cases and decisions.
* Own the process: Champion marketing processes; identify opportunities for optimisation; be agile while maintaining team morale and quality.
* Own supplier-facing conversations: Represent Currys marketing channels, brand and marketing metrics.
* Own the storytelling: Ensure internal stakeholders (up to ExCo level) understand and buy into what is being delivered and its impact.
* Coach, develop and mentor: Manage and develop a team of 4 marketing planning managers to support delivery and build a pipeline of talent.
Required Skills & Experience
* Extensive Marketing Planning / Multi-Channel Campaign Management experience.
* Ability to envision, engage, empower, energise and lead groups to deliver excellent results.
* Capacity to manage many campaigns, principles, budgets and marcomms strategy to inform decisions.
* Ability to communicate marketing strategy, plans and rationale to directors and CCO level.
* Ability to balance multiple KPIs and orchestrate campaigns across marketing, customer, commercial squads and suppliers.
* Extensive stakeholder management experience at peer level up to director level.
* Strong numerical skills and ability to present complex quarterly and campaign budget data clearly.
* Robust commercial acumen and understanding of supplier relationships and their impact on retailer marketing.
* Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring milestones are met and updates communicated to senior leadership.
