Locally Employed Doctor CT1 equivalent Paediatrics 12 months – Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic postgraduate trainee who wants to pursue a career in Paediatrics or gain experience in a different area.
Responsibilities
* Link across Paediatric Specialty Inpatient and outpatient areas, covering a 1 in 8 rolling rota.
* Provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual patient, understand what our patients need, and be adaptable and responsive.
* Support the wider medical team while learning.
* Provide safe, high quality healthcare at the right time, in the right place to support the children of Torbay and South Devon to live their lives to the full.
* Be part of a team with a shared vision of support and empowerment.
* Contribute to a positive impact on patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications and requirements
* Postgraduate trainee (CT1 equivalent) with an interest in Paediatrics or willingness to explore this specialty.
* Ability to work in both inpatient and outpatient paediatric settings.
Working environment
Louisa Cary Ward is a 22-bed paediatric ward, including 3 Paediatric HDU beds and a 6-bed adolescent area. There is a Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (open Monday to Friday 09:00–21:00) for assessing acutely unwell children referred by GPs or from the Emergency Department, led by the paediatric acute consultant with junior doctor and nurse practitioner support. The Special Care Baby Unit forms part of the South West Peninsula Neonatal Network, providing neonatal resuscitation, stabilization and intensive care prior to retrieval and routine neonatal care for premature infants of 30 weeks and above. Outpatient facilities include 5 clinic rooms and services supported by visiting tertiary specialists. The John Parkes Unit Child Development Centre provides multidisciplinary assessment and management for children with developmental impairment. A Children’s community nursing team supports life-limiting conditions. Peripheral clinics are conducted in community hospitals and special schools.
