Full clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Senior Management Accountant to provide the best financial information and support for the group. The team are flexible with working and are virtual first but there will be a requirement to be in an office. Key Responsibilities: Production and review of monthly management and assisting with annual statutory accounts Responsibility for accurate preparation of budgets and forecasts Preparation and presentation of financial reports and liaison with budget holders and other stakeholders external to finance to discuss and review Maintaining a high level of technical accounting knowledge to ensure that accounts are prepared correctly and in line with the relevant accounting standards. Ensure all reporting deadlines are met without exception Manage workload, delivery and development of management and assistant management accountants Responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations Journal processing, including ensuring the correct accounting of accruals and prepayments Review of assistant management accounts work to ensure accuracy Interrogation of financial systems to identify errors and make corrections Variance analysis Ad-hoc reporting and analysis Identify opportunities for improvements and challenge the status quo External returns and reporting What the client is looking for: Qualified to AAT Level or above Working towards or qualified with CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent Previous experience of working within a finance/accounting department Previous experience of working within a management accounts team Previous experience of working within the Housing Sector would be beneficial Previous experience of presenting management accounts to senior leaders Confidently able to use all Microsoft products including word and excel Advance user of excel, being able to use functions such as LOOKUPS, IF statements, SUMIFS and pivot tables Able to manipulate data to produce accurate financial information and reports to leaders An eye for detail favouring accuracy over speed How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
