Department overview Definition, development, delivery and verification of the vehicle Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) attribute for all Aston Martin vehicle derivatives Job purpose The Performance attribute engineer supports the team that is responsible for the definition, delivery and verification of the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) attribute at vehicle, system (passive and active) and component level both virtual and physical for all Aston Martin vehicle programmes. This role will be based at the Aston Martin facility in Gaydon and will be expected to occasionally travel overseas to support the needs of the business Key duties and responsibilities Support the attribute senior manager of the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) team to deliver Performance KPI’s at vehicle, system and component level (virtual and physical) for all Aston Martin vehicle derivatives Work with the direct stakeholder network with key commodity, attribute teams and business functions to enable the definition, delivery and futuring of the Performance attribute Define and cascade targets and pull input parameter KPI’s to and from commodity teams for systems and components Establish an indirect stakeholder network for the supporting interfaces and attribute input parameters for the attribute (e.g Electrical and Software Technology team, component supply base etc) Support the PED manager in collaboration with Advanced Product Creation (APC) team to scope and define appropriate research and benchmark initiatives to develop and future the Performance attribute within the wider PED function and enable development of appropriate specifications and standards (subjective and objective) Lead the Definition, development, delivery and verification of Performance attribute within the wider PED attribute function and ensure cohesive subjective to objective metric prevention and detection catalogue Define the attribute requirements and tolerance / tuning ranges for all passive attribute influencing system and components Support the development of the PED toolset e.g. (0-100, 200, 300 time, 300, 200 100-0 time, Reference track Lap time simulation, Power& torque deployment strategy. Under guidance of the Manager of the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) team, define and execute the verification plan at appropriate levels (Vehicle, system, component), (virtual and physical) within the constraints of function, cost, timing and quality of event Support the team in defining and cascading requirements and design verification plans (DVP’s) to the wider stakeholder teams that align to the Performance function within the wider PED attribute Review “voice of the customer” feedback from stakeholder network to ensure Aston Martin DNA is delivered and the attribute roadmap protects and futures and balances core AML attributes Support reviewing commodity team foundation DFMEA’s, DVP’s and system feature catalogues to ensure appropriate content protects for the Performance function within the wider PED attribute requirements and deliver the required integrity level for vehicle-based testing. Contribute to the Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) attribute budget; facilities, vehicles, consumables, resources, spares etc to support programme delivery Collaboratively plan and deliver the Performance attribute elements within the wider PED attribute verification plan Ensure Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) issues are tracked, robustly contained and counter-measured using agreed issue tracking and reporting tools Support the definition of roadmap, methodology with publication of standards, specifications and test procedures for the Performance function within the wider PED attribute with associated stakeholder teams Reporting of the status of the Performance function within the wider PED attribute function with appropriate metrics to support programme gateway reporting Support the project Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) sign-off process across Aston Martin vehicle programmes Experience and qualifications Essential experience A proven track record of delivering vehicle-level PED performance across complex development projects Proven knowledge in Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) KPI’s Sound commercial and financial awareness. Proven ability in project management delivery through product delivery framework process Experience of high volume / niche vehicle (low volume) programmes Knowledge of vehicle proving grounds and facilities in Europe Experience with noise factor management and problem-solving methodologies Proven experience with PED development tools, testing methods, and data analysis techniques Experienced in vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis methods (VBox, Motion Applied Atlas, Vector, CANalayser, CANape, etc) Experienced with simulation tool such as: RaceWatch, Hyperwork, MATLAB, Simulink, Python or equivalent Excellent analytical skills, with experience in translating and communicating attribute KPI’s to stakeholders Must be proficient with the use of all common Microsoft Office applications Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Preferred experience Experience with statistical analysis methodologies (Six Sigma) is advantageous An ability to communicate complex ideas quickly and include component expertise in decision making Demonstrated ability to make decisions against conflicting requirements to deliver a balanced recommendation for the vehicle programme Essential education/ qualifications Engineering degree or equivalent Required skills/ behaviours An energetic, driven and goal-based leader with a passion for delivering challenging projects to exact and compact timescales with a significant amount of innovation and customer focus Must be well organised and methodical, with an excellent attention to detail Able to work as an effective member of a team, while also confident to work alone Can adapt quickly to become skilled with the use of new systems / software Must demonstrate a high level of self-motivation, initiative and flexibility, and determination to see a task through to completion A confident, engaging communicator able to influence and lead high level meetings Able to remain focused under pressure Capable of representing a world class automotive brand Must be fluent in the English language Hiring manager: Simon Newton Grade : 9 Positions: One Belong at Aston Martin At Aston Martin, we believe that the stunning beauty, craftsmanship, and artistry that define our brand come from the diverse voices and talents of our extraordinary team.
