South Kesteven District Council set up LeisureSK to achieve a number of strategic objectives. We will be looking to employ enthusiastic and motivated individuals throughout all levels of the organisation who are passionate towards helping us achieve these objectives:
* To identify and break down barriers to accessing our Leisure facilities in South Kesteven
* To connect communities, looking at outreach programmes outside of traditional leisure facilities
* To reduce social isolation and promote independent living in South Kesteven
* To improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents of South Kesteven through targeted health programmes
* To facilitate and support the future of Council owned leisure and cultural facilities in South Kesteven
As a Swimming Teacher, your role will be vital to the delivery of the Swim School and School Swimming programmes at the centres. The lesson programmes are important from both a community engagement perspective and also for the contribution to the financial viability of the centres, enabling us to offer support to other programming activities.
Your responsibilities will include planning and delivering fun, engaging, and educational lessons following our scheme of work and guidance from relevant National Governing Bodies. You will also assist with routine checks, housekeeping standards, and customer safety, especially the class members in your charge during lessons.
You will regularly interact with customers in a warm and welcoming manner, building relationships and trust. You will have a significant responsibility for representing LeisureSK professionally and efficiently; remaining calm in difficult situations, proactively resolving issues where possible, or reporting immediately to management if necessary.
Swimming teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Delivering an excellent quality teaching service.
* Maintaining the standards of the Swim School brand in accordance with the Swim School procedures.
* Organising, planning, executing, and evaluating a structured programme using the ASA Learn to Swim Pathway.
* Ensuring that the Swim School records (currently Learn2) are updated appropriately with attendance and assessment data.
* Ensuring all activities are FUN, and promoting a successful and caring image of the Swim School and the Company.
* Supporting any other swimming-related activities as deemed necessary to provide a quality development programme.
* Updating and improving technical knowledge through continuing professional development and staff training.
* Identifying suitable pupils for exit routes to performance and excellence pathways.
* Providing high standards of customer care, encouraging communication with customers.
* Being aware of your responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensuring health & safety procedures are fully met, maintaining a safe teaching environment for pupils and centre users/team members.
* Being fully aware of the PSOP.
* Understanding and being conversant with the Emergency Evacuation Procedure for the building as detailed in the Health and Safety Manual.
* Completing other reasonable tasks as requested by management.
* Attending all scheduled team meetings and training events.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires an Enhanced DBS check and a check of the Adults & Children's Barred Lists before appointment can be confirmed.
