Your Role
As Principal Planning Officer, You Will
* Lead and Inspire: Support the Strategic Planning Manager in managing the Strategic Planning Service and mentoring a high-performing team.
* Shape Policy: Drive the creation and delivery of the new Local Plan and other key planning policy documents.
* Build the Evidence Base: Oversee research, data analysis, and consultant-led studies to inform robust policy decisions.
* Champion Sustainability: Lead on environmental planning strategies aligned with Council priorities.
* Streamline Processes: Enhance planning procedures to reflect best practice and deliver results.
* Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align strategic objectives.
* Engage the Public: Lead meaningful consultation and engagement, ensuring community voices shape our plans.
* Advise with Authority: Provide expert input on complex planning matters and represent the Council at appeals and inquiries.
What You Will Bring
* Proven Expertise: Significant experience in strategic planning and policy development.
* Professional Credentials: A degree in Town Planning or a related field; RTPI membership is desirable.
* Leadership & Vision: Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
