R&D Project Engineer
Annual Salary: £44,000 - £47,000 DOE
Location: Washington, UK (with regional and international travel)
Job Type: PermanentJoin our client's team as an R&D Project Engineer, focusing on the development of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) systems for automotive applications. Day-to-day of the role:
Collaborate with senior engineers and section leaders to identify and develop new business opportunities.
Engage directly with target customers to capture and internalise their requirements.
Drive the development of new products from concept through to industrialisation, ensuring they meet or exceed performance, durability, and layout standards.
Conduct regular site visits and travel as necessary to meet project demands and customer needs.
Ensure all activities comply with relevant quality standards and procedures.
Utilise advanced engineering tools and techniques to ensure design quality assurance.
Coordinate with test departments and customers for product validation, including setting specifications, test conditions, and analysing reports.
Investigate product failure modes and develop effective countermeasures.
Maintain robust communication channels with customers and internal teams such as QA, Sales, Production, and Testing.
Conduct benchmarking and cost-reduction activities to enhance product competitiveness.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Fluent in English, with proficiency in additional languages like French, Spanish, or German being advantageous.
Proven experience in an automotive environment, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems and components.
Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools with a solid ability to analyse results.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, capable of working effectively in cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
Competence in MS Office and related IT tools, with a strong self-management capability.
