The role
As a Security Access Controller, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding one of the UK’s most secure sites. You’ll manage access to the dockyard, ensuring that only authorised personnel and visitors are granted entry, helping to protect critical infrastructure and operations. Day-to-day responsibilities
* Manage access to secure areas, ensuring all entry processes meet strict security protocols.
* Operate access control systems, including issuing and renewing passes and ID cards.
* Conduct security checks and maintain accurate visitor and personnel records.
* Support visitors and colleagues by providing professional front‑of‑house customer service.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate site access.
This is a full‑time role, working 35 hours per week, based at the Devonport site.
Essential experience
* Experience in administration and/or customer service within a fast‑paced environment.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
* Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Qualifications
* GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A–C or equivalent).
* Completed or willingness to work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Administration.
Security Clearance
