Overview

The Pharmacy Service at St George's is highly regarded across the Trust, with over 250 staff members working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person with good interpersonal and organisational skills who will enjoy being part of this friendly, dynamic team.


Main duties of the job

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to support the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Services and Clinical Pharmacist team leaders in the provision of a ward-based pharmacy service to the clinical speciality and associated wards. This position is open to pharmacy technicians with post qualification ward-based experience, we would like to hear from you.

You will work alongside a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to lead and provide a core service of medicines optimisation in clinical areas. You will arrange supply of discharge medicines which includes dispensing and checking of TTAs on the wards. You will be one of the lead pharmacy technicians supporting to develop the clinical pharmacy technicians and the clinical service. The post holder will also support the induction and training of ward-based pharmacy technicians, ATO's, Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee pharmacists. The candidate must hold the NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and be a professional registered Pharmacy Technician who has achieved the Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification and be a qualified educational supervisor. The successful candidate will require excellent communication skills and enjoy both an individual challenge and working as part of a large team.

The helipad was opened in spring 2014 and the work of the Emergency Department has been captured on Channel 4's '24 Hours in A&E' programme

Person Specification


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 3 plus accredited underpinning knowledge
* GPHc registration with Accredited checking status
* Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
* Ward based accreditation for medicines management AIMMS/HEE
* Interest in self- development
* PDR training course


Experience

* Post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy in an area relevant to practice
* Proven supervisory experience
* Ward stock top-up experience
* Ability to organise and motivate self and others efficiently
* Evidence of continued professional development
* To be able to work successfully as part of a team
* Participation in Audit
* Extensive experience within a busy pharmacy
* Post qualification experience in dispensary and ward-based services
* Management of service coordination
* Project planning
* Staff management including HR processes
* Sickness management experience


Knowledge and Skills

* Strong interpersonal skills
* Good presentation skills both written and verbal
* Analytical and Judgement skills
* Planning and Organisational skills
* Excellent, up to date knowledge of drug use
* Familiarity with hospital pharmacy medicines management systems
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
* Knowledge of JAC/ CMM computer system.
* Knowledge of procurement and financial processes
