Location: Avonmouth - Bristol - Full time site based role

We're looking for a passionate, proactive HR Business Partner to take ownership of a high profile, ground up start up site and help bring it to life. This isn't a BAU role (not yet!) - it's a chance to shape the culture, tone, and foundations of an exciting new operation. If you thrive in phase one build environments, love solving problems on the fly, and enjoy being embedded in a hands on project team, this is your moment.

You’ll be at the heart of the launch phase, partnering closely with the OD and General Manager already in place. This is very much your baby - you’ll help define the ways of working, set the cultural heartbeat, and ensure the site gets off to the best possible start.

This role is perfect for someone with start up or greenfield experience, or someone hungry for the chance to build something meaningful from scratch.


WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

* Lead the people agenda for a 500 colleague start-up site, guiding the full build phase through to go live in January 2027.
* Design and deliver end-to-end recruitment campaigns across operational, managerial and leadership roles throughout 2026 to ensure the site is fully staffed for launch.
* Shape the site culture from day one, setting the tone, behaviours and ways of working that will underpin long term success.
* Act as a core member of the site leadership team, influencing strategic decisions and supporting the development and execution of the operating plan.
* Partner closely with the OD Lead and General Manager, embedding yourself in the project team to solve problems at pace and support the build of a high performing operation.
* Develop and implement people strategies aligned to business objectives, translating high level plans into practical, on the ground HR delivery.
* Build strong, collaborative relationships with Centres of Expertise and People Services to ensure seamless HR support and effective delivery of all people processes.
* Create scalable HR frameworks fit for a brand new environment, spanning onboarding, colleague engagement, performance, development and ER.
* Provide hands on HR support throughout mobilisation, proactively identifying risks, managing change, and keeping colleagues informed and engaged.
* Champion colleague experience, ensuring early hires feel supported, equipped and inspired as the site takes shape.


WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

* Demonstrable experience in start up, greenfield or large scale mobilisation projects, including high volume/phase one recruitment.
* Strong background in culture building, colleague engagement and shaping ways of working from the ground up.
* CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) - Level 7 desirable but not essential.
* Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the passion, energy and resilience needed to drive a complex start up project at pace.
