Brief Description
Are you interested in joining a well‑established and growing manufacturing company? Due to continued growth, Tricel is currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated General Operative to join the manufacturing team at Tricel Gloucester.
As a General Operative, you will play a vital role within the manufacturing function of the business. This is a hands‑on role, responsible for operating machinery, supporting assembly and store activities, and ensuring products are manufactured, packed, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping. This role is suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced factory environment, can work flexibly, and takes pride in producing quality work.
Shifts rotate: Week 1: 06:00 – 14:00 (Monday to Friday); Week 2: 14:00 – 22:00 (Monday to Friday). Reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for operating the factory presses, ensuring best practice and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
* Responsible for working in all areas of the factory, including SMC, drilling machines, stores, and assembly.
* Preparing and loading goods for dispatch, following company procedure, to meet business needs.
* Assisting with forklift duties, where a licence is held.
* Packing materials for movement and storage around the factory and dispatch.
* Labelling goods.
* Assisting goods inwards with picking, packing and labelling for the daily manifest.
* Responsible for putting stock away and taking part in monthly stock takes.
* Responsible for the general housekeeping of the factory, ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
* Responsible for ensuring the safety of yourself and others working on site, at all times, reporting any issues or concerns to management; ensuring all work meets quality and compliance requirements.
* Any other duties as assigned by the management team, in order to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications / Skills
* Experience of working within a manufacturing environment is desirable.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work cross‑functionally in all aspects of the factory.
* Have an eye for detail to ensure accuracy and precision.
* Possess a good level of numeracy skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and willing to do overtime when available.
* Ability to carry out manual handling activities, including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving heavy loads up to 29kg.
