About the Role
We are seeking an
Inclusion Officer
to support children and young people (025) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play a key role in carrying out statutory requirements under the
Children and Families Act 2014
and the
SEND Code of Practice 2015, ensuring that assessments, Education Health and Care (EHC) plans, and reviews are timely, effective, and outcome-focused.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will work closely with parents, carers, schools, health professionals and other agencies to improve outcomes and promote inclusive practice.
Key Responsibilities
Case manage assessments and reviews for a designated caseload in line with legislation and statutory timeframes.
Ensure high-quality EHC plans are written, maintained, and reviewed annually.
Liaise with families, education providers, and health and care services to ensure coordinated planning and provision.
Advise schools and other education providers on statutory duties and inclusive practice.
Contribute to decision-making panels regarding specialist provision.
Support transitions into adulthood, ensuring effective preparation for adult life.
Represent the service at meetings and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
Promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusion at all times.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014, Education Act 1996, SEN Code of Practice 2015, and the Care Act 2014.
Experience of working in a
multi-agency environment
with children, young people, parents, and carers.
Strong understanding of inclusive practice and child development.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and complex situations.
Proven ability to manage a large caseload, work independently, and meet statutory deadlines.
Highly developed written skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
Strong ICT skills, including use of case management systems and Microsoft Office.
Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
Level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
