Following a record-breaking year in 2025, DC Thomson’s agenda-setting golf media brand bunkered is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Content Creator to write compelling, accurate, and platform-ready editorial content exclusively for its Apple News channel.
This role requires strong news judgement, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to produce clean, engaging stories optimised for Apple News formatting and audience expectations. The ideal candidate will be a quick, responsible reporter with a keen understanding of digital publishing standards and emerging trends in mobile news consumption.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Pitch, research, and write original news, features, interviews, op-eds and explainers tailored specifically for bunkered’s Apple News channel.
* Produce clear, concise, audience-focused stories that align with Apple News editorial guidelines, tone, and formatting.
* Monitor breaking news and trending topics to deliver timely, accurate coverage.
* Collaborate with editors to refine story angles, improve clarity, and ensure all content meets high editorial standards.
* Incorporate multimedia elements (photos, data visualisations, embedded content) in accordance with Apple News capabilities.
* Ensure factual accuracy through diligent research, source verification, and adherence to ethical journalism practices.
* Analyse Apple News performance metrics to refine future content strategies.
* Work efficiently under tight deadlines while juggling multiple assignments.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Experience in professional writing or reporting, ideally in digital news.
* Strong understanding of Apple News format, standards, and audience behaviour.
* Impeccable writing, editing, and grammar skills.
* Proven ability to cover breaking news with speed, accuracy, and clarity.
* Experience using newsroom tools, CMS platforms, and editorial style guides.
* Ability to explain complex topics in accessible, reader-friendly ways.
* Strong sense of newsworthiness and editorial judgment.
* Comfortable with data-driven decision-making and analytics tools.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* Experience writing for mobile-first news platforms.
* Knowledge of SEO and audience engagement best practices (as relevant to Apple News).
* Familiarity with multimedia storytelling and data journalism.
