As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team. The Vertu Motors property team manages our portfolio largely in-house, covering Real Estate, Property Development, and Property Maintenance. About the Role The role will play an integral part within the property development team, producing high-quality budget proposals and delivering accurate management reporting to Divisional Operations teams and the senior leadership team. This is a key appointment and we are looking for a colleague with the energy, drive, and ambition to maintain the high standards we set, whilst continually seeking to enhance them. You will report to the Group Property Development Director based at the Support Centre at Gateshead. There will also be occasions for visiting the dealerships across the UK. Key elements of the role are: Responsibility for producing accurate construction budgets for all property development projects. Responsibility for producing monthly cost reports to accurately monitor the Property development Capital expenditure and adherence to budgets. Responsibility for completing the final accounts, reporting to the Head of Treasury, and financial reporting on a monthly basis. Lead on all QS tasks to advise the Project Managers on contract issues, valuation, variations and final accounts. Monitor actual construction cost data from past projects to improve the accuracy of the construction project budgets. Assist with tendering and procurement process on all construction projects and large maintenance contracts, coordinating with the PQS and Project Managers. About You We are looking for you to be a highly professional, highly motivated construction professional with excellent communication skills and be a team player. You should be IT literate, with strong reporting and presentation skills. Ideally you will have a consultant or main contractor background and will have worked as a Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveying for over 3 years. You will also be able to demonstrate a successful track record, with a good understanding of the Built Environment, specifically commercial properties. The ability to work to deadlines is fundamental for this role as are the following knowledge, skills and attributes: - Quantity Surveying – JCT Building Contract - Construction specification - Contractor Negotiation - Health and Safety Awareness - Strong Logic and Analytical Capabilities - Excellent Communicator – understanding of the construction / design process and Project Management. Qualifications / Experience BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying with 3 years plus experience in the role. Contract Management (JCT D&B and Minor Works). Budgeting and Estimating. Cost Management / Reporting. Change management and control, Valuations. Procurement & Estimating. Excellent knowledge in Commercial Construction. Motor Retail experience advantageous but not essential. Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering. Professionally Qualified - RICS.
