Job Description
We’re looking for lawyers to make a key contribution to the Environment Agency’s work in regulating permitted industry, notably waste and installations, and dealing with the civil aspects of illegal waste activity and more. You’ll provide timely, high‑quality advice and support to operational teams across England, deal with civil enforcement action, liaise with partner bodies in local and national government, and handle challenges in the courts, including judicial review and statutory appeals.
Responsibilities
* Regulate permitted industry, especially waste and installations.

Qualifications
* Fully qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister, or legal executive) entitled to practise in England and Wales.
* Excellent communication and drafting skills.
* Experience advising laypersons on statutory and case law with confidence in handling contentious matters.
* Customer‑focused and strong organisational skills with a team‑player attitude.
* Experience of environmental law and working for a regulatory body or local authority is desirable.
* 0–3 years PQE (Grade 5). Recent qualifiers or those considering a move into a new area of law are encouraged.
